"Storytelling is important because I could show the suffering of the farmers in the province" - Tahseen Alzrikiny

Iraq

Alzrikiny´s story ‘Red Seed’ is about farmers from his province who struggle with the extinction of rice. With this feature he won the award for ‘Best Story made with the StoryMaker app’. His story is one of many that resulted from the training sessions in Iraq. Citizen journalists, bloggers, activists and traditional journalists came from all over the country to participate. Most of them used mobile phones to produce news, agreeing that they are much easier and more discrete than camera’s. With the StoryMaker app, they enhanced this practice and created professional items. The resulting products are news stories, like they have never been told before.
